Automotive 40 V, 8-Channel Half-Bridge Smart Gate Driver

The DRV8718SQRVJRQ1 is a Texas Instruments automotive multi-channel smart half-bridge gate driver that drives eight external N-channel MOSFET half-bridges (four full bridges) from a SPI-controlled, 4.9 V to 37 V rated supply. Because the power FETs are external, the same driver covers a wide range of load currents, from small valve solenoids to high-current seat and pump motors.

Each channel has a smart multi-stage gate drive with adjustable slew rate and adaptive propagation delay control, which keeps EMI and switching losses balanced without changing the external FETs. Inline current sense amplifiers in the source path enable phase current measurement without high-side shunt resistors, and open-load detection plus SPI diagnostics simplify safety monitoring in AEC-Q100 grade 1 automotive designs.
